Children need the best possible start in life to reach their full potential, to lead healthy, fulfilled lives and to contribute to their communities.
But around 40 per cent of Greater Manchester children are classed as 'not ready for school' at the end of their reception year. We must cut this figure dramatically.
An integrated approach
Our new approach is fully 'integrated'. That means:
tracking children's progress consistently to identify problems early.
using proven solutions to help families with young children tackle problems such as unemployment.
improving the skills of people who work with young children.
This is a long-term project. But it's essential if our children are going to take advantage of the opportunities and prosperity we're creating for Greater Manchester.
