A statement from the GM Mayor as World Leaders meet to sign the Paris Climate Agreement.
As World Leaders meet to sign the Paris Climate Agreement at the UN, Greater Manchester Mayor Tony Lloyd said;
“I welcome the signing of today’s Paris Climate Agreement in New York. This agreement is an important step forward in the fight against global climate change, but the words written within the agreement must be met with action.
“In Greater Manchester we’re committed to reducing emissions and improving our environment. I’m proud of the work done by organisations like Transport for Greater Manchester and the Greater Manchester Low Carbon Hub to implement our ambitious Greater Manchester Climate Change Strategy and address our environmental priorities.
“Ultimately it will take each and every one of us to help tackle climate change. I know the people of Greater Manchester are up to the challenge.”
