Town Centre Challenge
Our town centres are at the heart of our communities. But they are facing serious challenges.
The growth of internet shopping and large out-of-town retailers has squeezed many town centres. We must help them adapt to changing markets, and build on their strengths.
In November 2018, the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, launched the Town Centre Challenge, which is aimed at regenerating our town centres. Each borough was asked to nominate a town to be regenerated.Â
