About
Councillor Martyn Cox is Leader of Bolton Council and is the Greater Manchester Combined Authority portfolio lead for the Green City Region, Waste and Recycling.
First elected to the council in 2003, Martyn represents the Westhoughton North and Chew Moor ward in the West of the borough.
Martyn was educated at St Cuthbert’s Roman Catholic School and Thornleigh Salesian School before going on to study Economics and Politics at Plymouth University.
After a spell teaching English in Madrid, Martyn entered the construction industry where he worked for 27 years until 2019.
Martyn is widowed with three children and has extended family in Spain.
He lists his passions as history, reading, travel and cycling.
