Dissatisfaction with Greater Manchester Police

If you are dissatisfied with Greater Manchester Police, its officers and staff, you will need to make a complaint. The information below sets out how to submit a complaint against officers from GMP and the Chief Constable.

If you are dissatisfied with Greater Manchester Police (GMP), you will need to make a complaint to the Professional Standards Directorate (PSD). They are the body who handle complaints about GMP officers and staff. GMCA has no legal authority for handling complaints about GMP. Complaints about GMP officers and staff must first be submitted to the PSD for handling.

If you wish to submit a complaint to PSD you can do this by using the online form on the GMP website.

GMCA are responsible for handling complaints against the conduct of the Chief Constable. These complaints must relate to the personal conduct of the Chief Constable, not complaints about the wider force.

GMCA have the power to conduct investigations into complaints about the conduct of Greater Manchester Police’s Chief Constable. However, the Chief Constable must be directly connected to your complaint.
