GMCA launches website and Twitter presence

Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) has launched its own website as part of a drive to improve how its work for the area is communicated.

Visitors to the website can learn more about GMCA’s work to encourage the conditions for economic growth in Greater Manchester and equip residents to share in this success through – for example - improved health, transport, skills and housing.

They can access information about GMCA meetings and decisions and also learn more about the Greater Manchester leaders who are driving this work forwards, both through existing co-operation and new freedoms and flexibilities being gained through devolution, and their roles.

The new GMCA website supersedes the site for the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities (AGMA) which had become outdated and difficult to navigate.

The site has been designed to be mobile and tablet-friendly and easy to find your way around and search. It meets the Digital Code requirements set out by government to ensure that local authority websites are user-friendly. The GMCA has also launched a new Twitter feed, @greatermcr in a bid to help share information and interaction.

Tony Lloyd, interim Mayor of Greater Manchester, said: "As additional powers and responsibilities are devolved to Greater Manchester, it's only right that the public can access information about what we're doing and the decisions being made in their names.

"We know that we've got to involve the people of Greater Manchester when making decisions about services like health and transport.

"I'm committed to improving transparency and increasing accountability and this website is simply the first step in our journey to open up the workings of the Combined Authority."
