There are around 105,000 companies in our area. But we want more! So we're making it easier to set up new enterprises, and are helping existing businesses develop and grow. We are working alongside the Manchester Growth Company (MGC) to bring trade, investment and growth to Greater Manchester and we're helping people get the skills and training they need to get started.

Business Advisory Panel
The panel’s members will advise the Mayor and Deputy Mayor for Business & Economy, Sir Richard Leese, on actions they feel the city-region should be taking on issues affecting business. The panel has representation from each of Greater Manchester 10 boroughs and membership is evenly split between women and men.
Social Enterprise Advisory Group
A Social Enterprise Advisory Group has been established to advise on how to help create a social enterprise sector which contributes towards greater productivity, flexibility and agility in our economy. It brings together representatives from the different types of ‘social enterprise’ (including co-ops, trading charities), and aspires to have parity of representation across geography, gender, race, age to reflect the social enterprise movement in Greater Manchester.
