In Greater Manchester we are committed to tackling the digital divide across all our ten local authority areas. In October 2020 the Greater Manchester Digital Inclusion Agenda was launched, with a bold ambition to make Greater Manchester a 100% digitally-enabled city region. 


You can help us in our work to support our residents to get online in the following ways:

Join us

The Digital Inclusion Taskforce brings together industry, VCSC sector, public sector partners, local government, schools and health to fix the digital divide across Greater Manchester.

The Taskforce meets bi-monthly and works in collaboration to focus and shape action to address the barriers to digital inclusion and the digital divide. 

The GMCA is also working with Taskforce members to develop pilot schemes to trial different initiative's to tackle digital inclusion in Greater Manchester. If your organisation is interested supporting a pilot scheme please email gmcadigital@greatermanchester-ca.gov.uk or contact your Local Authority Digital Team.

The Greater Manchester Technology Fund

The GM Tech Fund was first set up in 2020, and has supported over 3,537 people to date,  with the technology and connectivity needed to continue their learning at home whilst schools and colleges were closed. 

How can you support it? 

The Greater Manchester Technology Fund is another way that our businesses can contribute to the Greater Manchester effort to address digital and social exclusion and ensure local students from SEND and PRU schools have equal access to learning and opportunity, regardless of background or situation.

Volunteer your time

Would you like to use your digital skills to inspire people to use the internet and support them in building their digital knowledge and skills? 

Local Authorities across Greater Manchester are looking for digital volunteers to support their digital inclusion services.

If you are interested in volunteering please email gmcadigital@greatermanchester-ca.gov.uk with details of which local authority area you would like to volunteer.


Other opportunities 

 

Bridge GM

Bridge GM was set up by the GMCA with the ambition to build a work ready Greater Manchester. Bridge GM does this by connecting and preparing young people for opportunities in the labour market. The BridgeGM team is always looking for new businesses to join their network and support young people.

GMCA Pledge 5

GMCA is calling on organisations to make 5 pledges to help tackle key issues that young people in Greater Manchester are facing. These pledges could be anything from offering work shadowing opportunities to donating laptops to a local school.
